:Prior to setting up City Suburb Home, CHS Director Anne Gartner worked as an academic and in local government - mostly in positions related to (affordable) housing, concepts of home, strategic planning and urban issues.

Anne draws on her experience of:

working as Senior Housing Strategist at Moreland City Council
social policy and strategic planning in local government
teaching and research skills as Associate Professor of Unban Studies at RMIT University;
a wide frame of reference of urban renewal and densification projects from research, international conferences and travel; and
involvement with the arts.

Anne’s work spans:

affordable/community housing projects with registered Housing Associations and Housing Providers over 15 years at Moreland City Council
coordination of an accessible house partnership with Metricon and the Channel 9 Footy Show
housing and homelessness research and advocacy
broad consultation experience with social policy, community infrastructure and economic development portfolios
work with the private sector (developers, architects, planners, landlords, builders, real estate agents)
liaison with state government departments and statutory authorities
coordination of events exploring important issues of housing for life, accessibility, design for diverse households and alternative models of development, and
house histories for individual clients.
